The New Jersey Star Ledger, the state’s largest newspaper, highlights the extraordinary volunteers of New Eyes for the Needy who won this year’s NJ Governor’s Jefferson Award in the Volunteer Group category. The awards, founded by  Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard  in 1972, are a prestigious honor, considered  the Nobel Prize in community service.
