Back for the fifth year in a row, the Kids Rock for Vision Concert will bring down the house on Saturday, March 2, from 4pm to 6pm at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Summit. Since its inception in 2009, Kids Rock has raised an impressive$30,000 for New Eyes.
This is a unique fundraiser for New Eyes, as the event was originally inspired by teens and continues to be organized and performed by teens. The concert chair for the last three years, high school senior Will Taggart, is again working with fellow students and local residents George Psichos and Andrew McGann to plan the event. The teens has been organizing ticket sales, strategizing publicity and recruiting bands. Will himself has already raised $3,000 with email solicitations to friends, family and past ticket-buyers!
The School of Rock Chatham, a partner from the very beginning, is once again generously sponsoring Kids Rock. They’ll provide a sound board and a professional sound man to give the bands an authentic professional polish. The highly respected Street Team Band , comprised of the most accomplished and talented young musical talent at School of Rock Chatham, will be among the bands performing at Kids Rock, as will Will with his original band, Sauce.
As always, proceeds from concert ticket sales and donations will go towards the purchase of new prescription eyeglasses for poor children living in the United States. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling New Eyes at 973-376-4903 or purchased at the door. Please join us to rock for a great cause!
